Paris Start-Up to Make Private Jets Accessible for All
Wingly is a hybrid of the private aviation and ride-sharing industry that was founded 4 years ago by three Frenchmen: de Waziers, Bertrand Joab-Cornu, and Lars Klein. They aimed to capitalize on the massive growth in the sharing industry led by Airbnb and Uber by combing it with the aviation industry.
“The sharing economy has exploded,” continues de Waziers, “but the aviation industry has not seen this kind of growth yet.”
The aviation industry is experiencing an exciting time with emerging technologies. Pilots are able to sign up for free and gain flight experience. This lowers the cost of flying and is aimed at reducing CO2 emissions as more seats on private planes are filled. They are currently the largest flight sharing platform in Europe.
They are endorsed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency with the goal of making flight prices as low as possible. Wingly aims to expand into the US over the next five years and grow beyond the current 24 employees.
“We want to be the central digital player in private aviation,” de Waziers adds, “and connect all kinds of aviation providers to the public, be it for leisure or business.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Wingly succeeds in their goals and how they could revolutionize private aviation for everyone.
