OUR HISTORY
In 1981, William Blackford created the Miami Jet Centers in Miami Florida. He envisioned a better way of private travel for individuals and successful business travelers, with emphasis on customer service and convenience. On August 24, 1992, the devastating winds of hurricane Andrew flattened Kendall Tamiami Airport leaving only airplane parts and few hangar building in the storm’s path. Hurricane Andrew was one of the most devastating storms to hit KTMB since the airports inception. Miami Jet Center opened the new facility in Fort Lauderdale in 2002. The Miami Jet office is now located at the Miami Executive Airport (KTMB) in the Signature Flight Support FBO.

Tamiami Airport Moves to New Location
Tamiami Airport Moves to New Location
January 1, 1967The Tamiami Airport Moves to its new and current day location. The original Tamiami Airport was established in the mid-1940’s and was located just southwest of Miami International Airport. By the mid 1950’s it was an active general aviation airport with three paved runways that serviced several aviation businesses. However, by the mid 1960’s, the jet era and its proximity to Miami International Airport sealed the facility’s fate. The airport was relocated further south and the new Tamiami Airport opened in 1967. The Florida International University campus absorbed the original Tamiami, and the new facility was later renamed Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport.
